I've been thinking about it, and I propose that these are, holistically, the most influential modern indie games (i.e. this decade): - Sword & Sworcery - Gone Home - Hotline Miami - Spelunky HD Thoughts? Rebuttals? Additions?
Minecraft will forever be a landmark moment in gaming. Suddenly the most popular game in the world had no clear goals - it invented a genre but also its open nature is woven into the DNA of many games. A less confident pitch would be Cave Story. In some sense it's really the first best "tale" of a solo Dev making something that found huge popularity, and it's harkening back to retro days, it's mood and approach to combat, platforming and character can be found in many places
