Am I rubbish at Reddit?
In the past I've made posts about @HeavensVault in /r/IndieGaming with poor results, e.g.:
https://www.reddit.com/r/IndieGaming/comments/aj5fyp/we_made_a_new_trailer_for_heavens_vault_our/ …
Whereas for example, this post (not by me) in /r/Linguistics did pretty well:
https://www.reddit.com/r/linguistics/comments/89nof9/heavens_vault_is_a_game_about_translating_an/ …
Reddit has a lot of "right time, right place" and luck involved. Posts just before peak times for the subreddit will do better because there's more people upvoting in a short space of time. Plus it's easier to catch attention in a more niche subreddit, less competition

Yeah, it feels like a dark art. Also, I’ve heard subreddits can vary wildly in the types of posts that are allowed / encouraged. (On your last point about niche, see my reply about the post on /r/Games that did actually get a bit of traction!)
Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
