so, i don't think it's really possible for game devs to unionize, but can the smaller, more ethical studios develop something like a fair trade sticker for games made by guys that get to go home and have a nap most days?

For what it's worth, blizzard is great in this respect. Earlier in my career I have eg worked 9 months straight 60-80 hour weeks, but at blizzard, 2 late nights in the last 6 years

I've been on starcraft, heroes, diablo and now a central engine group. I've heard some other folks have had a little more OT than I have, but I've heard no horror stories.
