Design Q: In Mario Kart, there’s loads of “secret” info you can learn to get an edge. Like the start line boost, drifting, holding items as shields, etc. Is that fair? Is it good design?
You can still do pick up and play, but there's a level beyond that if people want to learn. Knowing the secret info isn't necessary to have fun while playing, it just helps increase likelihood of winning (though I've lost to people who don't know some of it)
