Definitely agree! But I think gaming will eventually all consolidate under a single platform that has all the networking, tooling, playerbase, etc. built in and accessible to most people to modify as they'd like
Making your game into a platform is too powerful. Giving users the tools to create their own fun (which lots of games do implicitly by having fun tools + mechanics) means more players, higher retention, and greater coverage on streams and video content
