      there's a weird marketing tradeoff w/ sharing your gamedev progress. I've thought about this a lot. I share my dev work to 1. make people giggle 2. avoid huge marketing costs I think it's possible to release a game w/ minimal marketing budget if you share & people like it.

      it's also a great way to get feedback/ideas. this is especially important for solo devs. The tradeoff is that a game clone shop can prob beat you to market. This tradeoff is something I always ask my dev buddies about when we chat. The more you share, the less marketing $$ needed

      Whilst there is great benefit, one should be wary about becoming a person who basically only makes cool / funny GIFs for Twitter. I know a few people who post tons of great GIFs / vids but never end up shipping anything

      good point. it can be hard to stay on track for folks who have a ton of ideas. I actually like seeing this though. I’ve seen people spend many many years on an early idea & refuse to move to something better bc they want to ship something. balancing act for sure.
