A world "4 times the size of Fallout 4" doesn't excite me. I want a world that's half the size of Fallout 4, filled with "4 times as much stuff". Make your worlds small, and dense

Empty wilderness can be meaningful too. Especially in a survival game.

It can be, if the world is in line with the mechanics. But we all have experience open worlds that are big just to be big. There are way more examples of that than games whose sparse worlds align with mechanics
