So, assuming you endorse this sentiment, do you advocate happiness becoming impossible? If not, then what? Might happiness occur when people are not “at ease”?

Ivan Ivanych (Chekhov?) seems to be saying that you can’t see the truth and live, or at least be happy. Me? I’m ill-suited for a life of service without the balm of happiness. I can just hope to keep working at the blind spots, and do better. Great question!
