real talk
these talks about git / types / whatever really have very little weight in someone's life.
15 years ago i would be telling you to use TortoiseSVN and PHP
time happens
opinions change
don't get caught up and try to have some fun!
also use rust or you hate safety
Okay so when you save settings, the names make literally no sense. I can save to:
1, 2, 3, M1, M2, M3
And I can load from:
MR1, MR2
Wanna guess what maps to what? 😅
Totally didn't accidentally hit a button while moving my camera around. Totally not 3 hours into trying to get color I like again. Totally not gaslighting myself constantly as I try to make this look decent again 😅
Panasonic can't get the S5IIX out fast enough.
stream last night to talk T3
We did that, but also talked about learning and teaching, getting into OSS, the balancing act between DX and bleeding edge, old graphics cards, and so much more
What a privilege, thanks for having me :)
Computers lying stress me out an irrational amount. Most of my technical decisions are built around minimizing the chance software tells me lies.
If you want your job to feel more like a murder mystery, ignore my takes
With return types in TS, inference gives you “The truth”, declaring can narrow both right and wrong. If you always get them right, awesome! I’d prefer to not risk it.
“Linear git history” Is a lie. Changes happen in a messy, chaotic, nonlinear fashion. Imo, your git history should reflect this reality. Your release history can be clean :^)
Wait I figured out why we all keep disagreeing.
Some of y’all like to be “smarter than the computer” and will lie to it for things like perceived cleanliness and simplicity.
I take what the computer gives me and work around it. I don’t like to alter reality 😅
If you use git rebase on branches with more than 5 commits and don’t want to die, you’re a monster and have never worked in a large team
I still feel bad for the pain I caused my team. My git rebase stance was formed in this exact environment. ❤️
Library, Framework, Meta-Framework, Meta Meta-Framework. Hard time keeping track myself. As someone who leans to the unopinionated I figured it was time to take a look at how the other side lives.
