In retrospect my favorite evil elementary school indoctrination attempt was the unit where it was explained that America is not a Melting Pot, but rather a Tossed Salad
In GenX school we stuck with the melting pot thing, were assured that Communism is bad and dangerous, and read Johnny Tremain, Tom Sawyer and Where the Red Fern Grows...all of which sounds like a benighted and irrelevant curriculum now, no doubt
