I've been talking with some Rust people recently and tbh I'm starting to warm to the idea that exiling toxic people is a valid and necessary tool for maintaining such communities

Not a Rustite, but it is best to start a language/project community with some cultural assumptions. They can be completely unrelated to the design of the language and the uses to which it's suited. Everyone wants to work with like-minded people and know what to expect.

In the [obscure language] community just about everybody is pleasant and calm, feet on the ground. That's kind of our thing. Then there's the one guy who KoolAidMans into the slack weekly with HEY WHAT ABOUT UNRELATED THING IT WOULD BE BETTER THAN HOW WE DO IT NOW FIGHT ME
