Is it possible that the boomers are steering the world towards total war, so that a new generation of boomers will be born in the aftermath?

At the risk of inflaming the "stop talking about generations" crew...Strauss 'n Howe have it that every fourth generation is an idealistic, self-assured one who in their old age precipitate a massive conflict, and in the aftermath is born a generation that echoes them, so yeah

They see the idealistic / visionary / crusading generations that grow up benefiting from yet pushing against a newly-stable national order (and some degree of social conformity or at least uniformity) as the mainspring of the whole four-part cycle.

But the perpetuation of the cycle is not "old Xer takes a perfectly content child under his wing to teach them the ways of an embittered survivalist" but rather that people are excessive and short-sighted and penitent in predictable ways.
