Disney World has 50,000 visitors every day from all over the world and Times Square has 330,000 people walking through it every day but they're both still open for business. New Orleans Mardi Gras was last week and it went fine. So why wouldn't SXSW continue on?

In other words a virus that has infected 1 in 85k people worldwide and about .001% of those cases being in the United States is not really a legitimate concern. Thanks.

What I'm thinking: it puts people who are not even going to such events at risk, including family members, co-workers, friends that may have common health problems, or are over age 60. Public health messaging seems inconsistent, unclear.
