Day 3: The Clouded Yellow butterfly has black and yellow patterns in the upperside. Difficult to take pictures of that part due to it is normally perching with the wings close. Do you have a picture of the upperside? we don't! 😮😮

Day 4: The Marsh Fritillary (Euphydryas aurinia) is declining across Europe and is protected under the EU Habitats Directive. 📈📈 The data from 1990 proves the decline of its abundance in Europe

Day 3: 🦋🦋 For today, we choose a species from the Pieridae family. The Clouded Yellow is one of the commonest migrant butterflies in Europe. It lays eggs on clovers, lucerne and other legumes

Cirrhilabrus rhomboidalis, the diamond tail fairy wrasse. One of my favorite fishes. This elegant species is scribbled everywhere in a glyph-like gold and purple scrawling. Such a luxurious and ancient looking animal - like something from a mummy’s tomb.

Please retweet the attached tweet. The more records Mandy can get of sightings for today the more accurate the results of the Anglesey Chough Day. Thank you.

...and if you thought Cirrhilabrus rhomboidalis was stunning, check out it’s sister counterpart from Australia. Cirrhilabrus lineatus. Both species are replaced by a third, C. rubrimarginatus, in the Indo-West Pacific.

Often, we take for granted the beauty of the most common butterflies. In Tobago last week, loads of these Scarlet Peacocks, Anartia amathea, in a variety of habitats.

In Tobago last week - this looks like the unlikely progeny of a chicken and a jay but is, in fact, a rather bedraggled female Barred Antshrike
