    and deliver yet again another great theory driven experiment: Distractors impact bahevior only during the beginning of a WM delay, as I expected from a (discrete) attractor model 👌 Pure 'activity-silent' models do not show this robustness to distractors

    Life sciences are getting a lot of heat for animal-based research. Noted, there is room for improvement. However, a back-of-the-envelope calculation learns that we can make a far bigger difference in other areas of human activity. Food & Exp numbers, worldwide.

    Forgot to mention: The paper includes 40 new simultaneous recordings of spikes and calcium in transgenic mice (soon to be released). Together with the recent data () these data should help produce better spike inference models.

    4/4 Synthetic-imaging data based on the model and recorded spikes recapitulates the discrepancies between ephys and calcium imaging. This approach can be used to understand possible confounds in imaging data.

    3/4 We developed a phenomenological model linking spiking and fluorescence, based on simultaneously recorded spikes and fluorescence from individual neurons. Individual neurons have different model parameters, which produces challenges for spike inference.
