I've published a paper on Peaked Mixtures for Circular data (w Irene Klugkist, Daan van Renswoude & ). Besides the useful saccade application, I was really happy to develop my own distribution, which was a bit of a dream throughout my PhD!

The final result of our handicracts afternoon. Inspired by a famous book cover on experimental designs. Improved by adding pink (family advice).

I am currently writing a results section without the word "significant". It's totally challenging to find a precise language. Is anybody even gonna notice that? —Maybe I'll add it to the intro where the meaning has nothing to do with statistics 😉

Too many divergent transitions of my non-linear model in and have been haunting me to my dreams this week. Finally solved it, setting a stronger prior for one of the group level effects. Very excited to use this powerful modeling environment more often in the future.

Roberto Cabeza () just joined our department & he's looking for a postdoc to study visual memory using fMRI, representational similarity analysis, graph theory & more. Fluency in German required. Here's the official ad:

Using fMRI and multivariate pattern analysis, together with the double-drift illusion, Patrick Cavanagh and colleagues show that our consciousness of the location of a visual stimulus emerges in anterior brain areas well beyond visual cortex.

I love that type of science threads. They give short and fast expert opinions and provide interesting references. Here it is useful to note that action planning does not only depend on working memory; actions also directly bias currently maintained information in WM.

Anyone have a good standard measure of the efficiency of a psychophysical method? Presumably some kind of informational measure like confidence-in-the-estimated-threshold-gained-per-trial..? Thanks!

This is a recurring topic - there is a real demand for a low cost desktop eye tracker that allows for an easy fixation control. Is such a device possibly in the planning stage ?

It would be great to have more slow motion videos of this kind showing behavior and the brain at the same time.
