This paper ("50 Ways to Leak Your Data: An Exploration of Apps’ Circumvention of the Android Permissions System"): https://www.usenix.org/system/files/sec19-reardon.pdf … They investigated real use of side channels by Google Play apps, and found that some of it was for invasive ads, afaik.

Right, but those SDKs or apps did not record audio surreptitiously to gather keywords for ads, right?
