    A good corrective on how “homeless spending” is spent — which also highlights the huge underlying problem in all government programs to address homelessness: The government doesn’t even have a reliable program to accurately count the homeless.

    “Government spending” rarely means “direct cash payments to individuals in need” but some people are still very inspired by this bad math.

    Some math on SF's Prop C: Current SF spending on homelessness: $380M Projected revenue from Prop C: $300M Number of SF homeless: 7,500 Post-C, that means SF will be spending $90k/homeless person. That's $30K per year *more* than the median SF teacher salary. I don't get SF.

    I believe strongly that there's more than enough blame to go around in California. I also think it's funny that the companies shaping and defining "the future" are very invested in pretty old traditional ideas of office work.

    Update from the Airbnb next door: we’ve started waving to and greeting our “new neighbors” every time there are new guests, who rarely stay more than a night or two. They’re always confused. I’m sure this will get old quick. If I were really committed I’d be bringing them pies.
