Same in retail. When you see something for BOGO or a coupon in the store’s flyer, the product vendor is covering the sales costs.

The real question for me is if this drives more shops to do their own delivery to keep those overhead costs. They’d miss this income completely otherwise.

Yes but if you have your own delivery people usually there’s cause or even requirements to have insurance. If you’re working in a delivery capacity for a business that entity could be liable for any damages etc. There’s costs either way. But this is highway robbery.

Go for it. Doubt there’s anything ileagal going on, or much pardon the word, much political appetite to change. Its a free market. They provide a service & a scale that most restaurants can’t. Without them right now many resuants wouldn’t be making any money at all.
