Sure. Probably should have. But even Saturday statement was ambiguous enough that the word "lie" should not have applied.

Didn't think it was ambiguous. If it were, Kellyanne would've made this clarification Sunday instead of saying "alternative facts"

I'm as dubious of Trump audience claim as the next guy. My beef is with the sloppy use of word "lie."

if the intent was to say it was the largest in person audience, as was assumed til today, hard to imagine another explanation.

the quote says "both" in person "and" around the globe. If meant sum total, not sure he'd use word "both"

What would he have said? "Sum total?" He said both. It wasn't clear but I could see what he meant.

If he meant sum total, he would've just said "total audience" which is pithier than "both in person and around the globe"

Right. It wasn't the clearest choice of words. But I still got what he meant and saw immediately that press did NOT get it.

No I didn't write anything. Just my observation. I thought Spicer was not clear, but got the meaning. Saw the problem.

Think he would've corrected right away if that's what he meant. https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/both

Yes, I agree it was silly to call a press conference about this, take no questions, and then clarify 2 days later.
