Morning. All I want is to act and make people laugh occasionally and write some nice things for those who who fancy it, and pay my rent and make mistakes I can learn from and kiss nice people and be a really good friend. I absolutely resent this. That’s all.

(But anyone who has followed me knows that the racists have occasionally found me on here before 👍🏿) Aaaanyway, black people - remember your boundaries with the internet. I totally abandoned mine and in just 7 days, I’m paying for it. Big love. Send jokes x

So I’m announcing, like a cunt, that I’m dialling back on twitter cos this place is moist with hate. I can’t wait to get back to tweeting about work and dealing with racism just in real life again.

Be it friends, my work, solo cinema trips (😍) a crush, a pub, a club. Being able to not think about that burden for just a couple of hours is how you refuel. Long wanky way of saying lockdown has showed me that I didn’t actually used to be online as much as I thought I was.

I think the lack of distractions due to covid has meant that white people are now hearing this 400 year old cry. But distractions are the very thing that make it possible to thrive, despite racism. As a black person, I need to put down the weight occasionally.

Hi I’ve worked hard for years on creating solid boundaries with social media. I think I’ve done alright. However all that work has gone to shit in the last 7 days. Fighting the old pandemic of racism amidst this new one, without the physical joy of my friends, has been horrid.

This is (now BAFTA nominated) ’s experience of racism at - so when I say that we really go through it and STILL deliver, I mean it. So before you tweet black lives matter, clean your own house first.

(Look at black women achieve *as well as* living through racism & sexism. Time for everyone else to roll up them selves innit 👍🏿)

These two outrageously talented women - Naomi Ackie & (and Gbemi’s short film) - have been nominated for BAFTAs this morning so I’m gonna try bask in that positivity today and not feel too weighted. Congratulations 🥳 xxx

Delroy Lindo: ‘British racism is as violent and virulent as America’s’ “Everything I have achieved in my life has come as a result of leaving England. I could never in a trillion years have had this career in England. Never.”

Honestly, what is the point of elected officials when fucking ACTORS have to go out and do the work for them? Fucking shambles. I’m so pissed off.

Being black is not the burden. It’s racism.

This burden. Then we’re meant to learn all our lines and smile in auditions or greet people at the checkout or be focussed in zoom business meetings. Morrison meant it when she said racism is a very serious distraction. It’s aim is to age us prematurely, if not flatout kill us.

I’m so proud of Boyega. But I also deeply resent that he can’t just be allowed to be an actor and enjoy his success. The fucking weight.... This world wants to deplete us.

The average filmgoer will likely struggle to name ten Black women filmmakers working today. Know their names. Admire their craft. Elevate their voices. Share their stories. Start right here. ⬇️

I said yesterday that it would only be a matter of time before RACIST AF brands saw a window of PR Opportunity. Fuck you. Fuck your 'solidarity'. Where was my support when I spoke out? I'm disgusted and writing this in floods of tears.

I had to fend for myself being torn apart by the world's press because YOU didn't want to talk about racism. You do NOT get to do this. This is NOT okay, not even in the slightest.

Excuse my language but I am SO angry. FUCK YOU . You dropped me from a campaign in 2017 and threw me to the wolves for speaking out about racism and white supremacy. With no duty of care, without a second thought.
