The majority of people serving LWOP in CA women's prisons are survivors of abuse. Vast majority were sentenced to LWOP under the Felony Murder Rule, meaning many were coerced by their abusers to be an "accomplice." @GavinNewsom #DropLWOP & end the culture of perpetual punishment.
Many formerly & currently incarcerated members of S&P were sentenced to LWOP bc CA doles out not just punishment but *extreme* punishment to survivors for the ways they choose to survive violence+abuse w/ little or no support.
@GavinNewsom #DropLWOP & commute these sentences.

It's also an effort to document+reflect on our mvmt work, esp bc our organizing has been led by Black women, WOC, immigrants + queer/trans people fighting erasure. We hope to preserve some of these histories, build solidarity & share hope as we continue our collective struggle.
