When we say 'no one is disposable' we do NOT mean there shouldn't be consequences 4 abuse, including 4 DV + sexual violence. Not all consequences are carceral - some are principled parts of repair. GBV is ubiquitous, exists in our mvmts & we survivors need more from our comrades.
We are so Sick&Tired of the rampant gendered abuse, violence experienced by BIPOC women, femmes, non-binary people and youth who are integral to our mvmts, which has often failed to provide adequate safety + accountability for survivors of DV, IPV, and sexual violence.
We affirm our commitment to prison abolition & anticarceral feminism. We do not belive policing+prisons are acceptable responses to DV and sexual violence. We do believe in consequences being necessary for repair and safety. Losing a platform, job, etc for abuse is not carceral.
I am a survivor of both...three abusers...all three punished and only one that has remorse...the other two have continued to try and harm me mentally after their release from prison...so yes in my mind there are those who become disposable
i’m so sorry that you’ve had to endure so much, it’s not fair how are bodies and spirits are treated. i just wonder how different the outcome would have been had there been accountability? had they learned that they wronged? we heal for the unborn when we, the living, do the work
