A3. Commutations reduce or eliminate sentences of currently incarcerated ppl. Gov. Brown has exec power to order immediate release, earlier eligibility for parole, or parole eligibility for people sentenced to Life Without Parole.

But CA Gov. Brown has commuted 51 people so far. This increase is important...but not nearly enough. #FreeThemAll

A3. Over 5,000 ppl have life & life without parole sentences in CA. So Brown's 51 people is big news compared to the terrible commutations record of past governors, but it barely scratches the surface of addressing the violence of this “other death penalty”
