A1. California is no different. The vast majority of people in CA prisons are victims of domestic/sexual violence, but CA prioritizes prisons over services. There are almost 2x as many beds in women’s prisons than beds in DV shelters.

A1. Also, funding priorities shapes & drives the pipeline. CA anti-violence services received 1/5 of the state funding needed. Meanwhile Gov. Brown proposed an increase in prison funding by almost $600 million ($12 bill total).

My kids and I tried to run. I was charged with custodial interference. Lost all custody, visitation and contact. Oldest child ended up in prison. Youngest given back to abuser. It's been over a decade and our lives are still in shambles.
