Loving a book you had not expected to like is in many ways more powerful than reading a book you expected to like. Student choice for independent reading in nice, but teacher choice of is a gift. It expands, rather than confirming their perspective.

I'm running a 'challenge' CPD ; this year it's a literacy focus, with sessions on academic reading, writing & oracy. Last week I delivered the writing workshop, largely based on concepts, supported by ideas from Twitter/blogs!

Assessing students solely on *procedural* skills is misleading. Develop tasks that also address *conceptual* understanding. Great blog post by one of the best math teachers out there,

*Thread* I recently delivered an introductory Science of Learning workshop to teachers, middle leaders and senior leaders and thought I'd share what I covered. There is a wealth of wonderful information available but here's what I decided to include in a 1hr CPD session.👇

I changed the way I teach new vocabulary. Fewer words, slower process, more effortful, but better understanding and use.
