In the early months of 2017, I’d just finished writing a new song and I needed to record a demo of that new song to pitch it to choir directors. I knew my friend Daisy Press would be the perfect singer to record that demo... read the rest (for free!) at: seasonalsongs.ca/about

Correct. A large part of the decision to go with Abu Bakr instead of Ali as first Caliph was specifically meant to not confuse political and religious authority but allow the latter to rest in hands of what would eventually become the ulama.

“The separation of “church and state” of which America is so proud was established in Islam fourteen centuries ago, when it was decided that no Caliph would have religious authority over the community.” —@rezaaslan

If the CPC, for example, is going to continue to move further and further to the fringe while hoping to one day win a general election, then they have a vested interest in nurturing the idea that when they speak the language of extremism, they speak for everyday Canadians.

I think that a big part of the reason why there’s a coordinated effort to get the “Trudeau called everyday people like me extremists!” message out is to strengthen the myth among these extremists that the average Canadian is one of them and believes what they believe.

We’ve known for a while now that it’s very tough to win a seat on Toronto’s City Council if you don’t already have one. Apparently, though, it’s tougher here than it is in any other large city in North America.

How bad is Toronto's incumbency problem? It's the worst among big Canadian and American cities, by a sizeable margin. My latest in @TheLocal_TO digs into how this happened. 🧵1/ thelocal.to/how-torontos-c

A vote for the Republican Party is a vote not only for racism, homophobia and misogyny - it is also a vote for cruelty and heartlessness. That is what you are supporting if you still vote for this party. That’s what it boils down to.

I think it might be more accurate to say "Ron DeSantis and Greg Abbot engaged in mass kidnapping for the purpose of political theater."
Quote Tweet
I want to correct the media on their headlines. Ron DeSantis and Greg Abbott aren’t “bussing” migrants for “political gain.” They are *illegally* smuggling human beings — against their will — and inflicting psychological trauma on innocent men, women, and children.

MT literally doctored my time cards to keep from paying me overtime, I had proof and went to upper management & was fired the next day. It wasn't until I threatened to call the department of labor that they paid me what they owed me. They don't operate in good faith.
