"Hope" & "faith" aren't synonyms, folks. Having hope doesn't mean someone also has expectations. Having hope sometimes means you necessarily must recognize the existence of a preferable improbable possibility while knowing something else is almost certainly going to happen.

Companies like Facebook grow from mere ideas into what they are today, developing a strong culture of trying to prove the nonbelievers wrong, motivated by competition + growth. So it's appealing to think in terms of media vs FB, but won't get the company closer to a solution.

The reason is actually a lot simpler. It's that Facebook is powerful now, and it's a reporter's job to keep track of whether FB is delivering on its promises. Stories may not always be perfectly nuanced. That's where FB can help w/ transparency + accuracy about how its biz works.

Other theories I hear from FB employees: - That reporters are being hard on FB for the clicks - That the media is trying to shift blame for its own role in 2016 election - That the media is retaliating for Facebook disrupting their business model

: Do you support President Trump's decision to keep the government closed as long as necessary to build the wall and keep our nation secure?

There are a lot of bad things about the shutdown. One of them is that a large number of astronomers cannot attend or present results at the biggest conference of the year. American scientific progress is suffering for the sake of one giant ego and a pointless wall.

I don’t like getting angry online about politics, but this faux concern about “civility” when millions of Americans are barely getting by just reminds me of how pathetic our leadership and pundit class is in 2019.

“Her remarks were vulgar.” Hey, you know what else is vulgar? Being Black and still fighting for basic civil and political rights. Living in a nation with a crumbling infrastructure. Seeing my students ill-prepared for college due to a lackluster education system.

The best part of this story is that I know it’s 100% true because EVEN THOUGH Trump completely fucked him over he STILL voted for him in 2016. His boss is over 70, openly racist/sexist, and said every other word out of Trump’s mouth was a swear/slur. They’re two peas in a pod.

My husband’s boss worked for as a contractor for his golf course in South Florida. Trump poached his employees, didn’t pay him, and told him that’s what happens to “backwoods po-dunks”. Just in case you wondered what he really thinks of people here in Florida.

Unless we all feel the effects of Trump's terrible policies, posturing and ignorance, it will continue. This will inconvenience me. Fine. I don't care. What's happening is wrong and we need to fight it EN MASSE.

If the GOP won't re-open government, every person working "in good faith" - assuming their check and back pay is coming - should walk Monday. No pay, no work. if America isn't affected by the , Trump's abnormal is normalized. It's time.

Clinton and Bush are out. Going to venture to guess Trump never had this conversation with Obama. or any former president.

A spokesman for GWB says the issue of the wall, which POTUS claimed he’s spoken to other presidents about, didn’t come up “when President Trump kindly conveyed his condolences after” HW passed away.

We want it to *matter* when Trump demeans women and minorities. Sure, Dems can make compelling arguments against his domestic policies and how they will hurt Trump voters. But why don't you actually *care* that he treats us like shit?

“It was definitely a ‘this is not going to look good’ situation,'” the participant said. While federal workers go without pay, senior Trump administration officials are poised to get $10,000 raises.
