    I tell people to stop worrying about futuristic runaway smart AI, because it's stupid current AI that will kill us, this is what I mean. Someone bought a product that *literally* text-matched the word "charity" as 'good' and "vodka" as 'bad' and is making hiring choices with it.

    I had to get a background check for my job, and it turns out the report is a 300+ page pdf of every single tweet I’ve ever liked with the work “fuck” in it. Enjoy your dystopian bs! *waves*

    AppStore in-app purchases were broken for 5h, but you wouldn’t know because won’t bother to tell you. Such fantastic job that is doing though.

    My fridge has an RFID chip in the water filter, which means the generic water filter I ordered for $19 doesn't work. My fridge will literally not dispense ice, or water. I have to pay $55 for a water filter from them. I'm sorry, but this just seems insane.

    So just declared ~$7,000 of my nearly perfect sound system obsolete and that the existence of these 8 devices may (will!) cause my entire system to eventually stop working. Bless their money grubbing hearts. Sorry for recommending this folks. Get a 3rd party remote app.

    Chrome was by no means first to private/incognito browsing or cookie/tracking prevention. Let’s celebrate their finally coming on board, sure. But let’s not forget the critical context or all the work and pressure Safari, Firefox, Opera, etc. achieved and applied. Keep it up.

    Short Thread: staying with some friends and last night after everyone went to bed I could not figure out how to turn off the large ceiling light in their living room. There is a wall controller that seemed fairly straightforward.
