The neoliberals (D and R, both) have been scheming to destroy the USPS for decades. This is their golden opportunity. I'd be really surprised if they didn't allow it to die. Get ready for AmazonPost(tm) or Mail by UPS(tm). That's been the plan all along.

Let's do BOTH! Bail out the USPS...but require them to sell ALL vehicles and cease the use of jets, trucks or trains for moving postage. A 100% bicycle based USPS would MASSIVELY reduce the use of oil and require a HUGE workforce expansion.
-
This would only work in very dense cities, unfortunately. City planning doesn't really exist here.

When I mail letters in Antarctica, it take months to reach other penguins (and they can’t even read).

If you have a post office in your country, you definitely want to keep it!Merci. Twitter en tiendra compte pour améliorer votre fil. SupprimerSupprimer

The USPS should be saved by Congress, but it also needs restructured! It shouldn’t be operating at a loss every year.

Do you really think government services—fire depts, public schools, parks, etc.—“shouldn’t operate at a loss”? Public services are not businesses. And USPS, unlike any other organization, is required to fund pensions 75 years into the future. That’s why it “operates at a loss.”
