The number of people who think tariffs are paid by foreign countries and not by American consumers is astonishing.

It’s like Republicans have suddenly forgotten how companies pass costs to consumers now that protectionism demands it.

It’s literally no better than thinking that Yang’s $1,000 per month or Sanders’s universal health care is free. Magic money! Grown on the money tree! And billed to you.

I love it when Millennials use old Republican arguments against Trump's policies without realizing it.

China is currently eating those tariffs, cause they can't afford to lose the logistical apparatus and production. If I was buying a Pen for $1 before the tariffs, now I'm only paying China $0.85 for that pen. After I pay the tariff, I'm still paying $1 as before. (Example)

Remember, China subsidises nearly all production and manufacturing, which is why they keep manipulating the value of the Yen. So right now, we're not really feeling the tariffs, cause Chine is absorbing the cost, thru lower market prices. How long is the question?

Cost increases are never totally passed to the consumer. A cost increase decreases qty demanded. So China does pay some of the cost. There are other indirect costs. Substitute goods could become a possibility. Business loathes uncertainty so they will look to move production.
