Today, I joined 31 other prosecutors and 44 correctional leaders in calling for the closure of youth prisons. As we explain in our letter, conditions in youth prisons were inhumane before the COVID-19 pandemic. Now they are horrific.https://chronicleofsocialchange.org/news-2/prosecutors-corrections-close-all-youth-prisons/45685 …

A senior citizen in San Francisco was dragged in the ground and mugged in broad daylight. Got away scot free. You’re dead silent on this and other crimes while being very vocal about your revolutionary virtue. Shame.pic.twitter.com/Do7ucZpuYX

It doesn’t mean there wasn’t a crime to be accountable for. It means there’s a response that doesn’t throw people away.

Exactly until it’s YOUR grandmother dragged on the ground. Where will your virtue be then?

All are impacted by this. Including myself. Important to know that the offender is also someone’s son, grandson, brother, family member as well. A better response creates a better outcome for all.

You were the victim of a violent crime in San Francisco? As they were beating and mugging you, did you cry “My heart goes out to you - you victim of system injustice and son of a human being, you!” If so, you’re a grander person than me.
