Today I worked with a lovely consultant who, after explaining things, always says to the patient & family: “Things you want to check with me?” I can’t pinpoint why, but it comes across as more encouraging & suggestive of an equal relationship than: “Do you have any questions?”

Australian and NZ anaesthetic trainees are a few weeks away from exams. The questions are already written, but this review of peri-operative management of glucocorticoids is a must read.

I also think as Australians we need to stop comparing nCoV to SARS. Our worst epidemic recently with respiratory infection was swine flu!

Ugh all these bans on China will actually severely affect all trade but nobody's looking at that!! Medications, electricals etc - all imported from China. The impacts of med shortages will be far more dire than the virus

No issues with quarantine. Massive issues with offshore quarantine. Lots of ways to isolate people safely without limiting their liberties to that degree. Also using it for the Wuhan evacuees makes the least epidemiological/public health sense.

Hate to ask, but the hospital beds appear to have no oxygen, limited power and no suction or other equipment often needed for pneumonia. Is there another view? Are these the only two beds?
