    This is a comet we're looking forward! We should be able to see it in our cameras on STEREO and PSP, and on Solar Orbiter! The latter will be very close to the comet in Dec/Jan, so I'm particularly excited to see those!

    The little white circle in the center of that movie represents the solar limb, so when you consider the size of Earth compared to the size of the Sun, it gives you a feel for the vast size of these eruptions, and the velocity that they travel at (over 3-million mph!)

    Here we go! Coronagraph images from C3 (the larger-field camera part of SOHO/LASCO) reveal a beautiful, full halo CME! 🔵💨 This is starting to look like an extremely probable face-on impact at Earth. [the other eruption to the right at beginning is a preceding CME from AR 12887]

    Looks like we have an ongoing gradual (long duration) SEP event thanks to the eruption from the central region on the Sun yesterday (AR 12887)! ☀️🛰️

    FINALLY! AR 12887 produced a global eruption (associated with an X1.0 flare). The dark part of this animation represents coronal dimmings due to a CME, which may arrive at Earth on Halloween, in addition to a filament that went off south.

    I know Twitter compression will butcher this gif, but I'll try anyway. It's a really nice CME seen by our HI-1 camera on STEREO-A a couple of days ago. (The bright vertical streak is caused by the star Pollux.) ☀️

    Oh, and speaking of Geminids... You may recall we had a press release about PSP/WISPR observation of them shortly after launch: e.g. Well, we've got enough new data now that I hope to get some new/updated results published this fall. Stay tuned!

    If you've seen any of our WISPR movies and wondered what all the streaks are, many of the answers are contained in that paper. Most folks assume they're cosmic rays but they're nearly all dust streaks - mostly secondary dust created from meteoroids hitting the spacecraft.
