    Last week six mining, oil and gas companies made commitments to advance beneficial ownership transparency. These actions can help prevent corruption, but only if properly implemented. Thoughts on the way forward from my colleague :

    1. Knowing who owns a company is not enough. Govt's & co's must apply high ethical standards when evaluating that info. 2. Govt's & state-owned enterprises that allocate licenses or approve suppliers need strong standards for who can & cannot participate in the sector. 2/4
