Would be interesting to see which weather model outputs are you using for Rainfall Outlooks, Looks like a Hydrology based Flood Forecasting system in my opinion. What say @rajbhagatt

This looks much like a riverine flood warning system. So river gauge data from CWC would be fed to the model and simulated. We need more details . But it looks similar to the ones which we generated for Mettur overflow and Periyar

So this is likely to be a reactive system which triggers after the rains & River Flows? A more proactive system would be one which will incorporate precipitation outlooks also along with riverine flood warning system to give a proper forecast of what can be expected.

Yes, but depending on Numerical weather models will be a hit or miss case sometimes. This might be the reason for the reactive approach

In 24 - 36 hours time frame Numerical Models like @ECMWF are fairly accurate and also mesoscale models which are extremely good in short range can be developed

@sundarpichai - excited to hear that the team @Google are also tackling the problem we are solving @FloodMapp. As a team of flood engineers and developers, our tools are also focused on providing more warning, and location-specific messaging. How can we work together?!

This is so important!! Thank you. 🤗 Are there plans to create similar forecasting efforts for flood-prone areas in the US? Am thinking in particular of Houston and New Orleans - the SSPEED center at Rice might be a good partner for hydrologic data.http://www.sspeed.rice.edu
