“We want to be clear that while we are not developing AI for use in weapons, we will continue our work with governments and the military in many other areas”

“This approach is consistent with the values laid out in our original Founders’ Letter back in 2004. There we made clear our intention to take a long-term perspective, even if it means making short-term tradeoffs. We said it then, and we believe it now.

“will live up to our “don’t be evil” principle by keeping user trust and not accepting payment for search results.”

And not let others use it for evil...

Hi
@sundarpichai , I would like to learn AI ; any free courses to learn it? -
Google’s Machine Learning Crash course is a great place to get hands-on with TensorFlow!
-
Thank you.
-
Don't go by her suggestion. Wait for Sundar's reply.
-
That’s an interesting opinion. If you could suggest other resources that are free and still deliver great content, I would be interested in learning about them too. Dismissing what others have to say is not helping those who genuinely want to learn.
-
I wasn't dismissing your inputs, rather playing on his expectation that Sundar will reply. You gave a very good suggestion

-
Ah, I apologize for misinterpreting the tone. Since a lot of students are trying to learn ML and are unable to find mentors/keywords for the field, I presume they take to Twitter and post on the feed of public figures. :)

These principles are a a good start, but it would be great to see Google take a proactive leadership role in establishing the emerging norms around AI surveillance, privacy, safety, unfair bias, and AI and autonomous weapons--beyond just following the status quo.

I'm not sure if you get to call them our principles if, for example, until recently you didn't mind working for Pentagon. Show us you are truly committed to follow these things and then declare them to be your principles. Otherwise, this will be interpreted as pure marketing.
