My working theory is that “have it your way” has permeated our entire lives, from ordering coffee or fast food, to having next-day delivery of our groceries or sneakers. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work in politics, where there has to be a lot of give-and-take.

You’re right. There are a lot of people who feel desperation and don’t know how to engage in good faith. Fighting each other is not helpful, but stating your case for why to support one candidate over another is good. We can be respectful AND make our case.
