  3. Also can the Mayor of Paris do something about the excessive decibel level in the city? Everywhere is far too loud. Motorbikes are too loud. Music in restaurants is far too loud (worse than Boston even).

  4. Such a treat to meet Lebanese sculptor Chaouki Choukini (b. Choukine, 1946), a graduate of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-arts de Paris (1972). Many of Mr Choukini's sculptures tackle numerous causes in the Arab world including Palestine, Lebanon & human rights.

    My friend introduced me to the work of the Syrian artist Marwan. I find his works really emotive and at times powerfully disconcerting. I can feel the discomfort of the subject.

    Today is the 2-year anniversary of Rachid Taha's death. It's a tall order to tweet about a figure who not only eludes most forms of classification - genre (in the French sense), language, aesthetic, identity, etc - but consciously built his career on subverting them.
