Not to ISIS. To them, he died like a hero, martyring himself as the infidel forces closed in around him. Willing to bet ISIS propaganda networks are already using this to their benefit. Would be nice if more people actually understood the group’s ideology.https://twitter.com/jdawsey1/status/1188447831784378368?s=21 …

"He died like a dog!" Trump says of Baghdadi. This is descriptive.

This is not about taking credit away from Trump. Sorry if I’m not celebrating the death of one man, which will 1000% be used to inspire followers, they are certain to have groomed another leader and we just enabled the escape of 100s of potential Baghdadishttps://www.nytimes.com/2019/08/19/us/politics/isis-iraq-syria.html …

Until we take steps like trying to help stabilize the region instead of create more chaos and assist with deradicalization efforts, symbolic victories like Baghdadi’s death will disappear like smoke on the wind and they will return. It’s happened before and it will happen again.

I’m thrilled Baghdadi is dead. He caused more destruction than any of us can conceive of and directed the murder of someone very dear to me. I have wept after interviewing the women his followers raped and the children they orphaned. I just want to actually prevent more of them.

sort of, but if he really was crying and screaming in despair, running away from combat, that is also not really reflective of the “happily going into death because you go to paradise” spirit ISIS tried to promote.

You’re willing to take Trump’s word on that?

Also, one report of him describing "They shot pieces off him a little each time, like in 'Robocop'" or to that effect. That is pretty well admitting that our military forces committed grievous war crimes.

There was no need for the B movie script quality of Trump's crowing. These situations are best dealt with sober, cold reading of events, a short statement of praise to the operators and hope for victory in war. Everything else is cheap drama unbecoming a POTUS.

Asking Trump to look at the big picture is truly asking a leopard to change it's spots.
