Christianity vs power. Its central teaching is to give it up. So what has happened to the American church? Talking with David French.

Why do Christians just make up what their religion is about where it conveniences them? You guys literally justify any position with the doctrine. It's central teaching is to give up power? Concentration of power has been with the Church for almost 2k years

Nope, it is not. The most central teaching is the gospel (“good news”) of Jesus Christ. French needs a refresher:
1. Bad news: All have sinned, deserve wrath & can’t save themselves.
2. Good news: God became man (Jesus) & died in our place paying our sin-debt with his life.

Imagine being ostensibly Catholic and bemoaning the American church’s relationship to power haha

I was raised Catholic and was a devout child. Now I don't recognize any religion. Their attitudes, personalities and behavior leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Yaaayy! I’ve been waiting for you two to interact for like forever.
“For thine is the Kingdom, the power and the glory” certainly suggests a respect for power... just not taking responsibility for it
I heard that first it was a faith, later became a religion under Constantine, then became a business in America. Father Richard Rohr?

Great conversation, though this might be the first time I've heard someone say that Augustus Caesar is a footnote in history
