NRIs landing in B'lore: "I'm bullish on India ruling the world. Energy is palpable. Unbelievable how far India has come, beating US by miles. You have UPI. Mind is blown. Pants are wet. UPI. India is best." after going back to family: "phew good to breathe clean air again lmao"

why is everyone in tech worried about AI stealing their jobs. it can only steal real jobs, we are all fine.

In today's hot takes, someone on LinkedIn was crying about how the govt has prioritised those in the 3-6lpa group and ignored the REAL middle class (12-25lpa) who are basically living hand to mouth in big cities.

Netflix owns a vast content catalogue, growing expertise in content production, and most of all, subscribers vs free users with increasing distaste for ads. Meta owns... an ad platform. Any analysis that looks at earnings w/o assets is incomplete.

India is at #144 out of 194 in GDP per capita. love watching techbros ignore unit economics in favour of vanity metrics. such a good explanation of the state of the startup ecosystem.

if you're trying to build the "next social network" & not realising that any improvement on the current situation will be centred on helping people build small but thick social circles -- not large and faint ones as has been the case until now -- then why are you even doing it

sometimes I find these unpublished, incomplete drafts and wonder why couldn't I have gone all the way and freaking completed them? my greatest folly both as a "writer" and as a person -- a bias for depth that impedes much of the bias for action

it boggles me how rarely, infrequently and LATE founders pivot on their core idea. Contrary to popular opinion, early stage is experimentation more than it is pure execution.

I'd love to meet up cool people in Goa where I'll be this month. I'm scared though of boring conversations about exCitinG IndIan sTartUps and tEChNoloGy chAngIng iNdia. Who's in Goa and what stuff do you talk about most passionately?

look at us debating which major Indian city is the best/worst, when it's clear that no city is optimised for a sustained healthy, peaceful life. To pick the best of the worst is the game here.

Jan 31 is a good day to admit that all New Year resolutions have gone down the toilet and it's not even my fault coz life is random and we're stupid for thinking we can plan events.

+1 and whenever you want to make pasta, just put the frozen boiled water into boiling water and you’ll be done in no time.

Notes to self after watching Pathaan: - SRK's got it - John Abraham's got it - SRK & Salman together on screen do have an... effect - Dunno why SRK has to do self-deprecating humour when Salman shows up - Deepika Padukone is a terrible actor - 7/10 even in its own genre

the easiest/funnest part IMO was substantiating the hypothesis and laying the academic groundwork. The hard part was defining the user persona & their journey - what's the right age? how do we do this w/o making them tech/screen-dependent? how do we measure/track EQ?

I'd spent a lot of time researching the offline, hyperlocal, academic models across the world focused on development. This kinda work isn't being done in tech, it's being attempted in small, specialised schools that cannot operate at scale. ...

some time back, I was super pumped about a "vision" for building game(s) that would help people develop high emotional intelligence from an early age (my belief: EQ >>>> IQ for individual fulfilment, social fabric, career success etc.) ...

life hack: days when you're feeling GOOD about something - love, family, self, career, new reckonings... anything - write about it in as much detail as possible. Label the file "come back to this when you're feeling down" & then do exactly that.

which edtech startups are s0lvIng critical thinking coz this country's education & general social conditioning have long had gaping holes. (the chicken-'n'-egg problem is that all our startups are being run by products of the same system)

that "judge them based on how they treat the serving staff" advice has become so cliched that people now know how & when to treat serving staff extra nice performatively

For Indians impacted by BigTech Layoffs: this is your Swades moment - the startup ecosystem here beckons, and you'll never regret getting involved in any capacity that you can. This will be a seminal decade for India Internet with large profitable scaled up companies!
