Unfortunately, it looks like the power supply may have died mid transit. Got a multimeter on Amazon, and I guess we begin troubleshooting tomorrow when it arrives...

Kenji Kaido: "The best games are the ones that never make it past pitch—in other words, games are always fine in concept but as they're being made, they gradually slide towards kusoge & learning how to curb that slide is a crucial skill. I call it 'the kusoge force principle'"🇯🇵

For all those who were interested. I checked the ClayFighter for SNES and found an unfinished BONUS stage leftovers. See here how to activate it.

I've reproduced this code and it works well as a CD-ROM API, but I want to fully understand the reasoning behind the architecture...

The Sub CPU doesn't work with the VDP, so it's not a matter of preventing graphics lockup. What is the "gain" by doing it this way?

I feel like splitting it off like this is A Good Thing and an optimization, but I also don't understand why. The Sub CPU is still going to be waiting for that access to complete and the data to be available.

Smart people and Megadrive devs of Twitter, please help me understand something. I've posted this image of the Sonic CD-ROM access flow before, but I want to understand the reason disc access is managed by the interrupt rather than the main program. (thread)

Ooh! An listener sent me this beautiful Atari XC11 program recorder. It was announced at the January 1986 consumer-electronics show, and was only sold through that summer. It was not released in the United States.

    ニチブツさんといえば麻雀や花札でしたね。ただ麻雀のルール知らないので広告や他人のプレイをゲーセンでみていました。これも懐かしい。

but the 'no gambling games' policy (that in reality was only active for a small few years in the project history) are for some reason remembered by more people than not, and still it means some people, who own these things, think we have no interest in them.

The difference with things like Mario Roulette is that people are finally starting to realise that yes, we'll happily emulate this kind of thing. People are also starting to actually look for them and buy them for emulation now as the sources for non-gambling stuff have ran dry.

Thanks to , we are proud to release various pieces of scanned documentation from the Shoshinkai 1995 event, mostly known for it's very first public showing of Super Mario 64 and Kirby Bowl 64. There are some very interesting things to take a look at!

I love that I can still use IRC successfully in a 20+ year old game. Also, Flycast is a pretty amazing Dtreamcast emulator.

The worst part about retrocomputing is, after you’ve tracked down all the rare vintage components, found and fixed all the electronic issues, cleaned up the chassis, and gotten the thing to boot, you have to actually use an old computer
