Here's a question: so y'all make students confess their life trauma in diversity statements. Does that really ever translate to an equitable scholarship/award distribution during admission? How does an institution communicate back how they would accommodate the needs
whatever the needs maybe due to their citizenship, race, class, ethnicity, disability status? Do institutions ever acknowledge the students' diversity needs in acceptance/rejection letters? Because if that does not happen, then we can all agree
that diversity statements are about making students go thru an existential journey of where they stand in relation to the rich & cruel world only to reinforce beliefs of inferiority/superiority they already posses as privileged/disenfranchised selves
also forcing disclosure (or forcing people to *decide* on whether disclosure is worth it) is a form of violence..
