Finally used ’s BGA format! Super simple and even better than PLY for lots of things, IMO—and I like PLY. To parse, just feed it an arraybuffer and get back info about the memory layout. Then create your own typed array views directly.

i went with the screen-space derivatives technique from the gpugems article because you can use the sign to know which side of the curve you're on, but now i'm getting strange artifacts. not sure if it's numerical issues (analytic derivs would be better, probs) or texture bugs

then you can test each triangle against the cells of the lattice for intersections and copy the curves into each of the cells they overlap. each cell has a fixed (configurable, but affects perf) capacity, so you do need to be careful about too many curves in the same cell

luckily i already had a SAT implementation lying around from some physics experiments for creating the lattice. each quadratic curve has 3 control points and the curve resides inside of a triangle described by those points (not counting the line width)

i want to use this technique for text rendering, which is somewhat trendy right now. i can parse ttf, convert cubic bezier to piecewise quadratics, and pack these curves into a vector sprite texture, like

the red squares are cells in the lattice that contain at least one curve. i'm only reading the first curve for each cell right now, finally just got more than a single curve to work
