Mathematicians 👩🏽‍🏫, computer scientists 🧑🏻‍💻, hackers 👨‍🔧! @ Rigetti, my team—which does quantum programming tools/OS’s—will be opening some positions soon. Quantum compilers, PSU(2ⁿ), lang. runtimes, static type checkers, Lisp compilers, and experimental quantum physics. [1/3]

Quantum mechanics is our most successful and accurate theory of physics because sin x = x works well when x = 2.82 * 10^-15.

People who write Rust (or languages in a similar disposition), do you worry that the organization-backed language might have its dedicated employees laid off? Would Rust survive without a Mozilla? Swift without an Apple?

Spoiler Alert: There are many things that make the system fast, but one big one is the optimizing compiler paired with a balanced source programming language! I’d hate to keep the compiler—called quilc—all to myself, so we put it on GitHub!

Ever wondered why ’s hybrid quantum systems are so dang fast? Careful & deliberate design, a steady hand, and a bunch of technical stuff. Read all about in a new paper by , , , Colm Ryan, , and me:

"It's the second best at everything." "It's simple for noobs to adopt." "It's hire-able." "It's just so dang easy!" I've heard all these &more, but see—company after company—people befuddled with its deployment, upgrade, porting, etc. and $millions spent goofing around fixing it

I don't agree with each eng decision made in this post, but I nonetheless think this is a good macroscopic view of a real-world Python 2->3 port IME, there's been a reality-distortion field around Python and the cost to use it over a long period of time.

When I see a cool project in python, I need to spend 1-2 hours messing with pip/conda, problems with newer versions breaking things, wrong platform extension for that library, wrong paths, unclear library names, breaking my other projects, etc. Is it just me?
