hot off the press...the first public draft of WCAG 3.0 🤯 how is it different from 2.0 you ask? - uses plain language - user-need oriented instead of technology-oriented - more tests that are granular + flexible - new rating system: gold, silver, bronze

Not seen this book before, mentioned "green disappears when you shine green light, etc so it animates (two frames) by alternating R/g light"...

Nice to be able to read in print, their 1st issue is about ethics & privacy

Colorful illustration on the cover of the magazine showing someone on their phone and an abstract background designed by @vpieters. Issue 1 on Ethics & privacy.
One of the spreads titled 'Towards ethics by default, one step at a time' written by Vitaly Friedman (the mag is a 58 pages long). Shows a two column spread with a big quote up top saying 'We just need to start shifting the conversation from universal, all-or-nothing approaches towards practical strategies for making interfaces more honest and ethical, one step at a time'.

Free accessible typography zine by @thetuttingtutor (thanks) that you can print out. I used A4 as I can read it that size, but you can print it larger.

Cover of the printed zine with the title Accessible typography by Alex Chen, looks small as I printed it on A4 and folded up, I like it this size as its just for me, but you can print it out larger if you prefer larger text.
There's eight pages to the pocket guide zine, and this shows the page on alignment and font size.

Tested some transparencies & metallic's today on the Epson, came out OK but not great. Have a couple of type books that use vellum well to overlay grids etc, so I'd like to find something that works.

Two sheets, one transparent and another a silver metallic that I test printed on my Epson. Came out OK but not great. Ink doesn't lay down that well, it's faint on the metallic.

Ummmm created a stunningly gorgeous, knowledge-packed email zine. It’s a 64 page thing of beauty chocked with all sorts of email design goodness—accessibility, variable fonts, SVG shape morphing AND a picture of a cute dog. Buy it >>

Just a heads up that the handmade print copies of the zine have sold out, if I make another batch I'll share on here. Tho you can still print your own if you can be bothered, just need some A4 sheets

Messing with paper today, quite liked this yellow for the odd page in the zine, tho others said it hurt their eyes so I gave it a miss...also tried out a more simple newsprint version.

Yellow paper with variable fonts 'Fit' by @djrrb and 'Jabin' by @fridaemg in black spelling out 'variable' and 'Aa'.
Newsprint dummy of the A5 zine, to explore a more affordable version that also binds quicker.
Newsprint dummy is still perfect bound though the whole process is much quicker with these materials.

Tested a new bookbinding jig over the weekend, this one has metal bars in the part that clasps the spine. Turned out good, also playing with stickers. Working on getting those copies out to you...

3D printed booking jig in black plastic, with a text block inside it.

Back of an A5 zine in a clear cover, sealed with a red circular sticker with 01 on it. Other sticker sheets in the background.
