I'm reading The Bird in the Tree by Elizabeth Goudge a mere 15 years after it was given to me. Such a cosy, gentle, enjoyably slow read.

It's not the 'thousands of episodes' we were promised, but maybe they're on their way?

Honestly, no one who watched To Leslie would question Andrea Riseborough’s nomination. If there is an issue with grassroots word of mouth campaigning (and by famous mouths) for an indie film, then there should be a problem with major studios spending $$$$ for FYC campaigns

12. Freshman Year (2020) Amazingly, this lovely, naturalistic film about an emotional first year at uni was made for only $15,000. Cooper Raiff wrote, directed, produced, and starred - usually an ominous sign, but he is obviously one to watch. (Released as Sh!thouse in US.)

Hi , why have you added gelatin to lots of your puddings that used to be vegetarian? I know you do some 'free from' puds, but lots of us are vegetarian not vegan

11. Mr Blandings Builds His Dream House (1948) I loved Eric Hodgins' novel, and this is an amusing, sweet adaptation - a little hokier than the book, but Cary Grant and Myrna Loy are, of course, charming.

10. Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui (2021) A theme I haven't seen addressed at all in other Indian films - interesting, and particularly picks up in the second half. Though I found the sports storyline limitedly engaging...

Fascinating article by @McNallyEditions senior editor & @parisreview columnist @LucyScholes on unearthing lost classics for republication: bit.ly/3XWVN1n @nysoclib's open fiction stacks hold 65,000+ vols, w/ many neglected gems waiting to be discovered.

IS it deceitful that I'm still using this sketch of myself in my blog banner when I lost this hairline about a decade ago?

9. Benjamin (2018) A very British film about a filmmaker trying to find love (and maybe the meaning of life?) It's gentle and funny, but ultimately I found it a bit dissatisfying, perhaps because I'm not sure the film quite knows what it's meant to be.

8. Meet Cute (2022) How has the time loop movie become a whole genre? And I'll watch 'em all. This one has slightly erratic plot and motivation, but lovely chemistry between Pete Davidson and Kaley Cuoco. With another couple script drafts, could have been really special.

7. Karwaan (2018) A gentle, sweet, funny road trip movie. Dulquer Salmaan is just brilliant in every type of film. I really liked this one a lot. (There don't seem to be any gifs from this movie on here...)
