If you have a preexisting condition, like me with Cystic Fibrosis, your COBRA payment for insurance would be nearly $2000 per month, just to have the insurance. That doesn’t cover the cost of you actually need to use the policy.

It’s as if tying our insurance to our job was a bad idea

GOP acquaintances tell me this is perfect! It forces people to work, & prevents dependency. In an economic climate where people are continuously changing jobs, this may the most inefficient system imaginable. Then again, our national motto is, “Every person for themselves!”

Become a big proponent. Getting insurance through a job locks people into jobs, instead of becoming entrepreneurs. It prevents women from having babies. Medicare isn't free, it is just priced better, having a wider base.

Yes. When we get sick, lose our jobs AND the insurance. For a period of 12 months, we can choose to keep our last insurance through COBRA, if we qualify. My last COBRA premium cost $12,000.00 per year. We pay the premiums, when we "get" our health insurance through our employer
