Hey Twitter. Anyone know what this is? Some sort of surveying device? Made by Aston & Mander Ltd London, dated 1909. Compass at the top, roll of paper across it. Some sort of inclinometer on the back. 24x19 cm. In my grandfather’s bureau when he died 15 yrs ago.

The CBD have released the zero draft of the new global plan for nature. First impressions: some good bits but quite a lot of work still to do to make the goals and targets fit for purpose before Governments hopefully adopt it in October

Few winter sights (and sounds) can rival a flock of Eiders. Known here in Shetland as 'Dunters' - a name which has derived from the Old Norse word 'Dunt' - to bob up and down. Sums them up perfectly when they are swimming on the sea.
